Stumbled upon Ella Crown by accident while waiting for our pizza to be ready and boy did we make the best accidental find ever! This bakery makes incredible cookies. It just so happens the week I was hunting for the best Chocolate chip cookies in NYC and I had just tried all the top places: Levain’s, Chip NYC, Mamans, Dominique Ansel and a few others... Ella’s chocolate chip competes with the big names and in my opinion is my favorite chocolate chip cookie, the flavor is so rich and specialized it tastes and textures win hands down. But I know everyone has their thing with chocolate chip cookies, some like soft some like crispy. Highly recommend making the stop and trying it for yourself to make up your own mind. :) On my second trip back in a week now and tried chocolate chip walnut, incredibly soft the walnuts are and that extra brown sugar caramelized goodness in every bite. I am very picky when it comes to cookies, and I honestly didn’t think there was any serious competition for Levain’s anywhere in NYC. But a couple of months ago I stumbled upon Ella Crown, a tiny new bakery on Atlantic Avenue and decided to give it a try (I couldn’t resist the delicious scent the bakery was giving off!). I am so glad I decided to give it a try - the cookies are absolutely amazing! Fresh out of the oven, still warm, gooey and soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside - perfection. I tried chocolate chip, and I went back to try the dark chocolate almond. The chocolate chip cookie is my favorite. They also have mini cheesecakes which I’ll try next time I stop by. Nice touch: you get a small coffee with the purchase of a cookie, and the coffee doesn’t suck.

I went in as soon as they opened, wanting to lend support to a new business arriving here at a bad moment. I've been back several times, though: the cookies are standouts and yes, the coffee is good. (Cheesecake is fine but not the best.)
